<strong>The</strong> total number of minimum course credits for<br />
the degree is sixteen. If they desire, non-thesis<br />
students may take two gradu<strong>at</strong>e level elective<br />
classroom credits in the department or wider<br />
university in addition to the sixteen required credits.<br />
To maintain full-time st<strong>at</strong>us, a student must be<br />
registered for a minimum of three course credits.<br />
Several course sequences are utilized by the<br />
department. Some of these include fieldwork<br />
during the summer, part-time fieldwork, and<br />
fieldwork during the academic year with course<br />
work in the summer. Please consult the department<br />
for further inform<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
Option II (<strong>The</strong>sis)<br />
Master of Arts or Master of Science<br />
Required Courses: All of the Option I requirements,<br />
and substitute OTS 210 (<strong>The</strong>sis Research) for<br />
OTS 209 (Clinical Research). Similar course<br />
sequences to Option I.<br />
<strong>The</strong>sis: Two course credits of thesis supervision<br />
(OTS 295, 296) and completion of thesis. Total<br />
number of credits required for the degree is<br />
eighteen (sixteen course credits and two thesis<br />
credits).<br />
Post-professional-Level Programs for OTRs<br />
(Options III and IV)<br />
For post-professional students interested in<br />
developing their knowledge base in areas such as<br />
administr<strong>at</strong>ion and management, aging, educ<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
mental health, childhood and adolescence, and<br />
upper extremity function and rehabilit<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
Students may also choose the self-directed concentr<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
focused on their individual interests.<br />
Eligibility: Registered occup<strong>at</strong>ional therapists or<br />
candid<strong>at</strong>es eligible for registr<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
Prerequisite: One course in introductory st<strong>at</strong>istics.<br />
<strong>The</strong> prerequisite course must be passed with a grade<br />
of B- or better and taken <strong>at</strong> an accredited college.<br />
Option III (No thesis—practice option)<br />
Master of Science in Occup<strong>at</strong>ional <strong>The</strong>rapy<br />
Required Courses: OTS 209 (Clinical Research, one<br />
course credit); OTS 208 (Clinical Reasoning<br />
Seminar IV, one course credit). <strong>The</strong>se required<br />
courses may be taken in any sequence or combin<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
depending on student interest, schedule, and<br />
courses offered.<br />
Concentr<strong>at</strong>ion: Three courses in an area of concentr<strong>at</strong>ion;<br />
one practicum (OTS 234 or OTS 235).<br />
Electives: Two course credits.<br />
Practica: OTS 234 (Fall) or OTS 235 (Spring):<br />
One credit.<br />
Total number of course credits for the degree is<br />
eight.<br />
Option IV (<strong>The</strong>sis—research option)<br />
Master of Arts or Master of Science<br />
Required Courses: OTS 210 (<strong>The</strong>sis Research,<br />
one course credit); OTS 208 (Clinical Reasoning<br />
Seminar IV, one course credit).<br />
<strong>The</strong>sis: Two course credits of thesis supervision<br />

doctorAL DEGREE ProgrAM (otd)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Occup<strong>at</strong>ional <strong>The</strong>rapy Doctoral degree<br />
program prepares occup<strong>at</strong>ional therapists to fulfill<br />
leadership roles upon completion of the degree.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se roles are expected to make an impact on<br />
individuals and groups in society and the world in<br />
such areas as educ<strong>at</strong>ion, health, societal particip<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
wellness, and quality of life. As leaders, the<br />
gradu<strong>at</strong>es will be prepared to implement leadership<br />
projects and dissemin<strong>at</strong>e results. Required credentials<br />
