Scholarship Funds ><br />
the “Step up to Excellence” program, or students who have<br />
gradu<strong>at</strong>ed from public high schools in culturally diverse<br />
communities and who have demonstr<strong>at</strong>ed personal<br />
responsibility and community leadership.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Offer Family Scholarship Fund, established in 1983<br />
by Mr. Charles Offer, Sr., to aid worthy and appreci<strong>at</strong>ive<br />
students.<br />
<strong>The</strong> William R. O’Reilly & Elizabeth Ross Endowed<br />
Scholarship Fund, cre<strong>at</strong>ed in 2006 for the benefit of<br />
undergradu<strong>at</strong>es <strong>at</strong> the School of Arts and Sciences. <strong>The</strong><br />
Fund supports need-based financial aid and promotes the<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ional benefits of diversity <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Osher Reentry Scholarship, established in 2009, to be<br />
awarded to students who have experienced a gap in their<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>at</strong> least five years and anticip<strong>at</strong>e particip<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
in the workforce for a significant period of time subsequent<br />
to gradu<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Susan and Richard Pallan Scholarship, established in<br />
1989 to benefit any full-time undergradu<strong>at</strong>e student in<br />
need of financial aid.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Charles A. Pappas Endowed Scholarship, established<br />
in 1990 by the Thomas Anthony Pappas Charitable<br />
Found<strong>at</strong>ion, Inc., for needy students possessing high<br />
scholastic abilities <strong>at</strong> the College of Liberal Arts and Jackson<br />
College.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Thomas L. Pappas Family Scholarship, established in<br />
2012 by Thomas L. Pappas, A’83, A’12P. <strong>The</strong> purpose of this<br />
fund is to support scholarships within the School of Arts<br />
and Sciences with first preference being given to students<br />
who are the first in their families to <strong>at</strong>tend college and<br />
students double-majoring in m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics or the sciences.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Parets Family Scholarship, established in 2005 to<br />
provide financial aid to <strong>Tufts</strong> students, with preference to<br />
students of limited financial means who possess high<br />
academic potential and a demonstr<strong>at</strong>ed commitment to<br />
achieving scholastic excellence in the study of arts and<br />
sciences.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>The</strong>odore L. and Ruth B. Parrella Scholarship Fund,<br />
established in 2007 by Carol L. Parrella E’85 in memory of<br />
her parents, to support undergradu<strong>at</strong>es in the School of<br />
Engineering with preference given to a female student<br />
majoring in Mechanical Engineering.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Adoniram J. and Jane L. P<strong>at</strong>terson Scholarship,<br />
founded in 1920 by Adoniram J. P<strong>at</strong>terson, of Roxbury,<br />
Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Ethel L. Peabody Scholarship Fund, established in<br />
1975 by Miss Ethel L. Peabody of the Jackson College Class<br />
of 1915. Preference is given to former students of the<br />
Fitchburg, Massachusetts, High School already <strong>at</strong>tending<br />
<strong>Tufts</strong>.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Ellery E. Peck Memorial Scholarship, founded in<br />
1891 by Henry Rollins, of Bangor, Maine.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Pederson Memorial Scholarship, established in 2008,<br />
to benefit undergradu<strong>at</strong>e students of the Faculty of Arts,<br />
Sciences, and Engineering who are pursuing academic<br />
majors in the humanities, including Classics, Compar<strong>at</strong>ive<br />
Religion, English, Foreign Languages, History, Philosophy,<br />
Visual and Critical Studies, or similar areas.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Joseph and Rosaria Peduto Scholarship, established<br />
in 2008, to support a preference to provide financial aid to<br />
students of Italian descent.<br />
<strong>The</strong> William L. Peduto Scholarship, established in 2008,<br />
to support the <strong>University</strong>’s efforts to cre<strong>at</strong>e an intentional<br />
community of diverse learners.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Dorothy Penniman L<strong>at</strong>in Scholarship, established in<br />
1979 through the generosity of Dorothy Penniman<br />
Hubbard of the Jackson Class of 1925. <strong>The</strong> donor studied<br />
L<strong>at</strong>in <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong>, l<strong>at</strong>er taught L<strong>at</strong>in, and understands the<br />
lasting and multiple benefits of knowledge of the subject.<br />
She has established this fund in the hope th<strong>at</strong> it will<br />
encourage other students to pursue the study of L<strong>at</strong>in. First<br />
preference <strong>at</strong> all times is given to students in need of<br />
financial aid enrolled in L<strong>at</strong>in courses in the Department of<br />
Classics.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Penniman Scholarship, established in 1944 by<br />
Dorothy Penniman Hubbard and Ruth Penniman Ware in<br />
memory of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. George Wallace<br />
Penniman, the income from which is to be used annually to<br />
aid some deserving student with preference to students<br />
majoring in religion.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Ralph Wentworth Penniman Memorial Scholarship,<br />
established in 1982 by Dorothy Penniman Hubbard of the<br />
Jackson Class of 1925 in memory of her brother, who was a<br />
gradu<strong>at</strong>e of the <strong>Tufts</strong> College Class of 1910. Income from<br />
the fund is restricted to students in the College of Liberal<br />
Arts, with preference to students majoring in history.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Louis and Mary Perito Memorial Scholarship,<br />
established in 1982 by Paul L. Perito of the Class of 1959, in<br />
memory of his parents. <strong>The</strong> income from this fund is to be<br />
awarded annually to a deserving student in the College of<br />
Liberal Arts or Jackson College.<br />
<strong>The</strong> John B. Perkins Scholarship, founded in 1866 by<br />
James D. Perkins, of New Rochelle, New York.<br />
<strong>The</strong> John Perkins Scholarship, founded in 1896 by Ann<br />
Maria Perkins, of Medford, Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Nancy Tabb Pfannenstiehl Memorial Scholarship<br />
Fund, established in 1993 by her family and friends, given<br />
with preference to undergradu<strong>at</strong>e women majoring in<br />
romance languages.<br />
