Scholarship Funds ><br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong> Kinsmen Scholarship, for aid to students with<br />
preference to <strong>Tufts</strong> family descendants. Awards from<br />
income are made on basis of need and achievement to<br />
those who have completed one year or more <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong>.<br />
*<strong>The</strong> Betsy Houses Twombly Scholarship, established in<br />
1993 to provide assistance toward tuition, room, and board<br />
for a worthy and needy female student in either <strong>Tufts</strong> or<br />
Jackson College.<br />
<strong>The</strong> A. Raymond and Eileen Tye Scholarship, established<br />
in 1994 to provide financial aid and to assist with the<br />
tuition of qualified undergradu<strong>at</strong>es who are pursuing their<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ional goals.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Tyler Scholarship, founded in 1919 by Susan E. Tyler,<br />
of Lowell, Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Irving Usen Scholarship, established in 1952 by Irving<br />
Usen in memory of W. A. Carroll. <strong>The</strong> income is to be<br />
available for a qualified, needy young man or young<br />
woman whose parents are fishermen residing in New<br />
England and preferably residents of Gloucester, Massachusetts,<br />
or Portland, Maine.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Albert Whittier Vanderhoof Scholarship, established<br />
in 1959 in honor of Albert W. Vanderhoof of the Class of<br />
1924.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Villamil-Davis Family Scholarship, established in<br />
2004 for the benefit of undergradu<strong>at</strong>e students and to<br />
increase the diversity of the student body.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Teri Volpert ’84 and Barry Volpert Endowed<br />
Scholarship, established in 2005, awarded to students with<br />
demonstr<strong>at</strong>ed financial need who have excelled in the<br />
classroom.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Peter J. Wade Scholarship, established in 1999 to<br />
provide scholarships to students pursuing studies in studio<br />
art or graphic design. Preference is given to juniors or<br />
seniors who have shown excellence in some area of studio<br />
art or graphic design and who are enrolled in the five-year,<br />
dual-degree program with the Museum School of the<br />
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Albert and Renee Waldman Endowed Scholarship<br />
Fund, established in 2011 to provide scholarships to one or<br />
more students in the College of Liberal Arts and Jackson<br />
College.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Joseph H. Walker Scholarship, founded in 1898 by<br />
Joseph H. Walker, of Worcester, Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Walker M<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ical Scholarship, established in<br />
1865 in honor of William J. Walker, M.D., of Newport, Rhode<br />
Island, and payable from the income of the Walker Fund.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Julia Ward Scholarship, established in 2007 to further<br />
<strong>Tufts</strong>’ efforts to cre<strong>at</strong>e an intentional, intellectual and<br />
broadly diverse community of scholars, to include students<br />
from a wide variety of socio-economic, geographic,<br />
cultural, ethnic, and political backgrounds.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Mary Ann Ward Scholarship, founded in 1892 by<br />
Sylvester L. Ward, of Boston.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Warren Educ<strong>at</strong>ional Fund Scholarship. <strong>The</strong> income<br />
for the benefit of a worthy student, preference being given<br />
to students from St. Paul’s Universalist Church, Springfield,<br />
Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Warren Scholarship, founded in 1905 by Dr. Ira<br />
Warren, of Boston.<br />
*<strong>The</strong> Sarah A. W<strong>at</strong>son Scholarship Fund, founded in 1958<br />
under the will of Sarah A. W<strong>at</strong>son for the benefit of Jackson<br />
College, the income and interest to be expended for the aid<br />
of a deserving student who would not otherwise have the<br />
benefits of further educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Marcia D. Weber Endowed Scholarship Fund,<br />
established in 2011 by Marcia Weber, J’71 to support<br />
students of financial need who are majoring in Child<br />
Development in the Eliot-Pearson Department.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Alice Weeks-Jesse Dowse Endowment Fund,<br />
established in 1990 by the est<strong>at</strong>e of Albert W. Weeks in<br />
memory of Alice M. Weeks and her mother, Jesse Dowse,<br />
both gradu<strong>at</strong>es in m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong>, to provide financial<br />
aid to students <strong>at</strong>tending <strong>Tufts</strong> College or the Gradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
School of Arts and Sciences.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Gerald and Ruth Weil Scholarship, established in<br />
2008, to provide financial resources to needy students who<br />
are identified by the university as increasing diversity <strong>at</strong><br />
<strong>Tufts</strong>.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Mark Weisberg Scholarship Fund, founded in 1948<br />
by Mark Weisberg of the Class of 1918.<br />
<strong>The</strong> J. Frank Wellington Scholarship, established in 1931.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Jonas Clark Wellington Scholarship, founded in 1906<br />
by Mrs. Sarah C. Fisher Wellington, of Cambridge,<br />
Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> West Medford Woman’s Club Scholarship, established<br />
to provide scholarship assistance to students in<br />
Jackson College and <strong>Tufts</strong> College, with preference given,<br />
when possible, to a resident of Medford, Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Joshua S. and Harriet N. White Scholarship, founded<br />
in 1896 by Joshua S. White, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.<br />
<strong>The</strong> N<strong>at</strong>haniel White Scholarship, founded in 1899 by<br />
Armenia S. White, of Concord, New Hampshire.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Amasa and Hannah L. Whiting Scholarship,<br />
founded in 1890 by Mrs. Hannah L. Whiting, of Hingham,<br />
Massachusetts.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Whittier Scholarship, founded in 1890 by Charles<br />
Whittier, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, in the name of Charles<br />
and Eliza Isabel Whittier.<br />
