Career Center<br />
<strong>Tufts</strong> Career Center offers resources and programs<br />
for undergradu<strong>at</strong>es, gradu<strong>at</strong>e students, and alumni<br />
in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School<br />
of Engineering. We help students with all facets of<br />
career development and job search by providing<br />
individual career counseling, job and internship<br />
listings, on-campus interviews with recruiters,<br />
résumé critiques, career fairs, alumni present<strong>at</strong>ions,<br />
networking opportunities, interview prepar<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
business etiquette training, grad school advising and<br />
more. Staff members are available to help students<br />
make career decisions, set realistic goals, and<br />
develop skills and str<strong>at</strong>egies to realize these goals.<br />
Students may schedule an appointment with a<br />
Career Counselor in advance or take advantage of<br />
our drop-in hours in Dowling Hall and Engineering<br />
buildings. Students are encouraged to use the<br />
Career Center as early as their first year, to continue<br />
throughout their tenure <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong>, and to use our<br />
alumni services. <strong>The</strong> Career Center website<br />
(careers.tufts.edu) provides up-to-d<strong>at</strong>e inform<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
on programs and panels, career fairs, and professional<br />
development events. <strong>The</strong> site also provides<br />
links to a wealth of career planning and job search<br />
resources, inform<strong>at</strong>ion on applying to gradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
school, internship opportunities and funding<br />
resources such as Career Center internship grants,<br />
full-time job listings, cover letter and résumé<br />
advice, self-assessments and skills inventories, as<br />
well as inform<strong>at</strong>ion about jobs, employers, and<br />
industries. Students may contact alumni volunteers<br />
from the <strong>Tufts</strong> Career Advisory Network (<strong>Tufts</strong><br />
CAN) to g<strong>at</strong>her inform<strong>at</strong>ion about a wide variety of<br />
careers. Online workshops and YouTube videos<br />
allow students to access the inform<strong>at</strong>ion they need<br />
on a 24/7 basis. Students may also learn more about<br />
the Career Center through our blog, Twitter, and<br />
Facebook page. <strong>The</strong> Career Center is loc<strong>at</strong>ed on the<br />
seventh floor of Dowling Hall, 419 Boston Avenue.<br />

<strong>Tufts</strong> Health and Wellness<br />
<strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong> Health Service (TUHS) is loc<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
<strong>at</strong> 124 Professors Row, across from Fletcher field<br />
and the tennis courts on the Medford/Somerville<br />
campus. During the academic year, the hours are<br />
8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday<br />
and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, and<br />
10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on S<strong>at</strong>urday and holidays.<br />
TUHS is professionally staffed by physicians, nurse<br />
practitioners, and physician assistants, and nurses,<br />
and has an on-site certified labor<strong>at</strong>ory. Health<br />
Service provides primary care and urgent health<br />
care to the undergradu<strong>at</strong>e and gradu<strong>at</strong>e students on<br />
the Medford/Somerville campus. We work closely<br />
with local hospitals should hospitaliz<strong>at</strong>ion be<br />
required.<br />
Prior to registr<strong>at</strong>ion, each student is required to<br />
submit a pre-entrance health questionnaire and<br />
immuniz<strong>at</strong>ion history. Undergradu<strong>at</strong>e <strong>at</strong>hletes are<br />
additionally required to submit a physical examin<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
report. <strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong> policy requires th<strong>at</strong><br />
each student have medical coverage under an<br />
insurance plan with benefits th<strong>at</strong> meet Massachusetts<br />
st<strong>at</strong>e requirements. <strong>The</strong> university offers a<br />
comprehensive health insurance plan <strong>at</strong> a reasonable<br />
cost for students and, if necessary, their<br />
spouses/partners and children.<br />
All full-time students are charged autom<strong>at</strong>ically<br />
for the <strong>Tufts</strong> student health insurance plan. If<br />
students are covered under their parents’ or other<br />
priv<strong>at</strong>e insurance plan and they do not want the<br />
university’s student plan, it may be waived by<br />
submitting a waiver form to the Health service prior<br />

Department of Alcohol & Health Educ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
<strong>The</strong> Department of Alcohol & Health Educ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
envisions a campus which understands the impact<br />
of the environment on healthy communities; fully<br />
supports a continuum of educ<strong>at</strong>ion and prevention,<br />
early intervention, and access to services; and<br />
promotes a culture of recovery and healthy life<br />
choices for all. Our mission is to support and<br />
promote campus efforts using proven str<strong>at</strong>egies th<strong>at</strong><br />
reduce health rel<strong>at</strong>ed problems among members of<br />
the <strong>Tufts</strong> community.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Alcohol and Drug Program uses an<br />
integr<strong>at</strong>ed, multi-pronged approach to substance<br />
use, misuse, and abuse on campus. Focus is placed<br />
on the personal and the individual as well as the<br />
environmental factors th<strong>at</strong> influence alcohol and<br />
drug use in an effort to promote wellness in our<br />
community and to optimize the academic success<br />
of our students.<br />
