Accredit<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>Tufts</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong> is a priv<strong>at</strong>ely endowed institution founded<br />
in 1852 and has been accredited by the New England<br />
Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and<br />
Commission on Institutions of Higher Educ<strong>at</strong>ion (CIHE)<br />
since 1929, and its accredit<strong>at</strong>ion by NEASC encompasses<br />
the entire institution. <strong>Tufts</strong> was last reviewed in March 2013.<br />
NEASC establishes and maintains high standards of<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ional excellence through self-evalu<strong>at</strong>ion and peer<br />
review. Institutions demonstr<strong>at</strong>ing they meet these<br />
standards are accredited and thus members of NEASC. <strong>The</strong><br />
CIHE, recognized by the U.S. Department of Educ<strong>at</strong>ion, is<br />
one of seven accrediting commissions th<strong>at</strong> provide<br />
accredit<strong>at</strong>ion regionally.<br />
<strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s NEASC on-site comprehensive evalu<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
took place in March 2013. An upd<strong>at</strong>ed accredit<strong>at</strong>ion st<strong>at</strong>us<br />
for the Institution and all of its schools is anticip<strong>at</strong>ed in<br />
November 2013.<br />
