Scholarship Funds ><br />
<strong>The</strong> Hovannesian-Howorth Scholarship Fund,<br />
established in 1989 in honor of Mrs. Claire L. Howorth of<br />
Stoneham, Massachusetts, to provide aid to electrical/<br />
mechanical engineering students whose particular<br />
interests are in microwave technology degree work.<br />
<strong>The</strong> William H. and Arlene E. Howard Scholarship,<br />
established in 2009 for support of students in the Music<br />
Department, <strong>Tufts</strong> <strong>University</strong> College of Liberal Arts and<br />
Jackson.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Howland Scholarship, established in 1865 from the<br />
income of the bequest of Edwin Howland, of South Africa.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Paul O. Huntington Scholarship (E’13), given to a<br />
student in the academic or engineering program in<br />
memory of the husband of Harriet S. Huntington.<br />
*<strong>The</strong> Hunton Scholarship, founded in 1921 by Mrs.<br />
Gertrude Hunton Sweet, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, for<br />
the benefit of women.<br />
*<strong>The</strong> Lydia Glidden Hutchinson Scholarship Fund,<br />
founded in 1985 by Lydia Glidden, Jackson ’28, for<br />
deserving women <strong>at</strong>tending Jackson College.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Hye-Hovannesian Scholarship, endowed in 1981 by<br />
Albert S. Hovannesian of the Class of 1946. Preference is<br />
given to undergradu<strong>at</strong>es of Armenian-American descent.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Ingalls Family Endowed Scholarship, established in<br />
2012 by Edmund F., A’78, A’09P and Margaret D. Ingalls,<br />
J’81, A’09P, to support scholarships within the School of<br />
Arts and Sciences.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Ives Memorial Scholarship, founded in 1966 by<br />
Harriet Raillon Ives of Woodstock, New York, in memory of<br />
her family.<br />
Haig Jafarian Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in<br />
1992 by Ethel J. Duffett and Dana Paul Bowie in memory of<br />
their beloved brother and uncle, Haig Jafarian. <strong>The</strong> income<br />
is to provide scholarships to students in the College of<br />
Liberal Arts and Jackson, with preference to students of<br />
Armenian ancestry who have expressed interest in the<br />
course known as “A Survey of Armenian History.”<br />
<strong>The</strong> Paul and Alice Darakjian Jafarian Memorial<br />
Scholarship, established in 1990 by Ethel J. Duffett in<br />
memory of her parents, to provide scholarship assistance<br />
to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Jackson.<br />
Preference will be given to students of Armenian ancestry<br />
who have expressed an interest in Armenian studies.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Christine Jankowski Gradu<strong>at</strong>e Fellowship for<br />
Romance Languages, established in memory of Christine<br />
Jankowski of the Class of 1970, awarded to a gradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
student in the field of romance languages.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Japha Family Scholarship, established in 2001 to<br />
provide scholarships to students with a record of above<br />
average academic performance and contributions of<br />
earnest service to and/or beyond the <strong>Tufts</strong> community.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Jephson Educ<strong>at</strong>ional Trust Endowment Fund,<br />
established in 1999 for aid to undergradu<strong>at</strong>e students who<br />
show exceptional promise but whose families are<br />
particularly disadvantaged.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Raymond L. Johnson Scholarship Fund, established<br />
in 1999 by the will of Raymond L. Johnson.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Peter and Clare Kalustian Scholarship, established in<br />
2008, to provide scholarships to mechanical and chemical<br />
engineering students, with a preference to be given to<br />
students of Armenian descent.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Arnold S. K<strong>at</strong>z Scholarship. A member of the class of<br />
1963, Mr. K<strong>at</strong>z founded this scholarship in 1981 to aid<br />
students in the College of Liberal Arts and Jackson.<br />
Preference is given to students from York County, Maine.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Elsa Orent Keiles Scholarship Fund, established in<br />
1996 by the will of Elsa Orent Keiles, J’25.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Michael T. Kelleher Scholarship, established in 1951<br />
in honor of Michael T. Kelleher, of Boston, the income to aid<br />
each year an outstanding young man who needs help in<br />
order to go to college.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Andrew P. Kerr/Adam F. Kerr Scholarship, established<br />
in 1988 by Andrew P. Kerr, Class of 1960. This scholarship<br />
benefits students who are in need of financial aid and who<br />
are in good academic standing in the College of Liberal<br />
Arts and Jackson.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Kier-Wain Family Scholarship, established in 2000 to<br />
provide financial aid to <strong>Tufts</strong> students with financial need.<br />
First preference in selection will be given to an undergradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
woman of Cuban-American heritage. If a Cuban-American<br />
woman is not available for the scholarship, preference<br />
will be given to a woman of other Hispanic heritage.<br />
Killam Canadian Fund, established in 1997 in memory of<br />
Isaac Walton Killam of Nova Scotia by his Massachusetts<br />
sisters through their testamentary trusts, to help Canadian<br />
students with limited financial circumstances enroll <strong>at</strong> <strong>Tufts</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Elson T. Killam Memorial Scholarship Fund,<br />
established by a bequest made in trust in memory of the<br />
l<strong>at</strong>e Elson T. Killam, a 1922 gradu<strong>at</strong>e of the College of<br />
Engineering. <strong>The</strong> income from the principal is to be used<br />
for general scholarship needs of the university.<br />
Kimball <strong>University</strong> Scholarship, established in 1994 by<br />
David N. Kimball, A’68, to provide financial aid to students<br />
of high achievement who show promise of future success.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Kindler-Sullivan Scholarship, established in 2008, to<br />
support the university’s efforts to cre<strong>at</strong>e an intentional,<br />
intellectual, and broadly diverse community of scholars.<br />
*<strong>The</strong> Dr. Barbara Knight-Meyers Scholarship, established<br />
in 1963 by Dr. and Mrs. Edward R. Knight. This scholarship is<br />
to provide financial aid to a deserving student in Jackson<br />
College.<br />
