Certific<strong>at</strong>e Program in Management of Community<br />
Organiz<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
<strong>The</strong> certific<strong>at</strong>e in management of community<br />
organiz<strong>at</strong>ions (MCO) offers professional<br />
management training within the framework of the<br />
social, economic, and political values th<strong>at</strong> shape the<br />
nonprofit sector. <strong>The</strong> program’s goal is to train<br />
people with a commitment to social concerns and<br />
effective management who wish to work <strong>at</strong> the<br />
community level. Participants share a commitment<br />
to working to improve the housing, employment,<br />
environment, health, and overall quality of life for<br />
low-income groups and communities. (See<br />

Certific<strong>at</strong>e Program in Program Evalu<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
Priv<strong>at</strong>e funders and public agencies are increasingly<br />
demanding evalu<strong>at</strong>ion as a requirement for funding.<br />
Individuals with evalu<strong>at</strong>ion training are needed to<br />
assist programs, sponsoring agencies, and funders<br />
in planning and carrying out evalu<strong>at</strong>ions to address<br />
their needs for inform<strong>at</strong>ion and analysis. <strong>The</strong><br />
certific<strong>at</strong>e in program evalu<strong>at</strong>ion is designed for<br />
midcareer professionals who wish to learn about<br />
the design and implement<strong>at</strong>ion of effective<br />
evalu<strong>at</strong>ion str<strong>at</strong>egies. Students learn practical skills<br />
th<strong>at</strong> can be put to use in the evalu<strong>at</strong>ion of a wide<br />
range of social service, public health, community<br />
development, and environmental programs. In<br />
addition to a bachelor’s degree, applicants are<br />
expected to have three to five years of professional<br />
experience in a particular field. (See Program<br />
