Any forthcoming applications for new or extended facilities would be considered on their own merits. The one identified risk is considered to be low. Primary Schools Existing conditions 5.26 Similar to EY, SCC has a statutory duty to ensure there are sufficient school places in the County to meet the present and future demand. It is the role of SCC to plan, organise, and commission places for all maintained schools in Surrey in a way that raises standards, manages rising and declining pupil numbers, and creates a diverse schools community. SCC seeks to exercise this function in partnership with Dioceses, governing bodies of schools, head teachers, local communities, and other key stakeholders. Figure 6 - School Planning Areas in Runnymede 5.27 Runnymede is comprised of 5 primary planning areas as identified in Figure 6. There are a range of primary age state schools in Runnymede, 4 of which have nursery provision. There are also a number of private primary schools in the Borough.
