175 The total number of victims represented and assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV as of 14 October 2011 is 2,119. This figure represents 867 more<br />

victims than in 2010. Of <strong>the</strong>se, <strong>the</strong> majority of victims are in <strong>the</strong> CAR Situati<strong>on</strong> (1,011). The majority of victims represented by <strong>the</strong><br />

OPCV are male (63.5%).In 2010 male victims comprised 62% of <strong>the</strong> total.<br />

177 Out of 1,011 victims represented and assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV in CAR, 58% are men and 42% women. This represents a 3% increase<br />

in <strong>the</strong> number of female victims represented by <strong>the</strong> Office compared to 2010. The proporti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> number of victims from CAR<br />

assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV relative to <strong>the</strong> overall number of victims assisted by <strong>the</strong> Office dramatically decreased in 2011 by 36%. In<br />

2010, CAR victims were 84% of <strong>the</strong> overall number of victims being assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV. Now this figure is 48% of <strong>the</strong> victims<br />

represented by <strong>the</strong> OPCV. Please note that <strong>the</strong> decrease in <strong>the</strong> number of victims assisted and represented by <strong>the</strong> OPCV in relati<strong>on</strong><br />

to <strong>the</strong> Situati<strong>on</strong> in CAR (from 1,051 in 2010 to 1,011 in 2011) is due to <strong>the</strong> appointment of different Legal Representatives for<br />

178 In Uganda, <strong>the</strong> OPCV is assisting 117 victims, <strong>on</strong>e more than in 2010. Of <strong>the</strong>se, 68% are men and 32% are women. This is <strong>the</strong> same<br />

figure as in 2010. Ugandan victims c<strong>on</strong>stitute 6% of <strong>the</strong> total number of victims being assisted or represented by <strong>the</strong> Office, 3%<br />

less than last year.<br />

179 Out of 748 victims represented by <strong>the</strong> OPCV in DRC, 70% are men and 30% are women. In 2010, 63 victims were represented<br />

by <strong>the</strong> OPCV in relati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> DRC Situati<strong>on</strong>, of whom 44% (28) were women. The significant increase in <strong>the</strong> number of<br />

victims assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV is largely due to <strong>the</strong> opening of <strong>the</strong> third DRC case, <strong>the</strong> Prosecutor v. Callixte Mbarushimana. DRC<br />

c<strong>on</strong>stitutes 35% of <strong>the</strong> total number of victims represented or assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV, a 30% increase from 2010 when <strong>the</strong> figure<br />

was 5% of <strong>the</strong> total (63 victims).<br />

180 There are 21 Sudanese victims assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV, of whom 86% are male victims and 14% are female victims. These are <strong>the</strong><br />

same figures as in 2010. This year, Sudan c<strong>on</strong>stitutes 1% of <strong>the</strong> total number of victims assisted or represented by <strong>the</strong> OPCV, a 1%<br />

decrease from last year.<br />

181 There are 222 victims assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV in relati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> Situati<strong>on</strong> in Kenya, of whom 64% are men and 36% are women. The<br />

Kenya Situati<strong>on</strong> accounts for 10% of <strong>the</strong> total number of victims assisted by <strong>the</strong> OPCV. Last year, <strong>the</strong> OPCV was assisting <strong>on</strong>e male<br />

victim in relati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> Situati<strong>on</strong> in Kenya.<br />
