In order to ensure that a baccalaureate standard has been attained in each course and across
the program, the program framework and courses were: :
benchmarked against similar
programs and courses in Canada and other jurisdictions,
developed by faculty members who are familiar with degree-level study in the field of
practice,
reviewed and approved by the program Advisory Committee which include one member
who is currently a professor (Dr. Lana Stermac/University of Toronto) and other members
who have taught at Ontario universities,
developed in consultation with Humber’s
Planning and Development office which manages
the development
and approval processess of all of Humber’s degree level programs, and
assessed by an external reviewer, Dr. Maurice Feldman/Brock University. Excluded from
his
review
were the breadth electives which have been reviewed as
part of previous Humber
degree submissions.

How This
Degree Meets the Degree Level Standard
The degree program develops foundational and advanced
knowledge in the assessment, design, applications, and
implications of behavioural science practices. Core courses
develop critical concepts, methodologies, and
theoretical
frameworks in the overall field of behavioural science.
Students specialize inn areas of their interestss through
projects, presentation
ns, and senior level thesis projects
where they deepen and broaden understanding in chosen
areas.
This degree focussess on the specific area of behavioural
science which is strongly grounded in the research and
application of applied behaviour analysis and
cognitive
behavioural approaches as applied to a wide range of
individuals
throughout the lifespan including people with
autism, developmental disabilitiess and dual diagnosis,
addictions
and those with dementia and agingg issues.
Graduates
of the program will be prepared to
employ the
necessary
skills, knowledge and resilience to
work in the
diverse field of behavioural science. The program includes
fundamental competencies found
in Applied Behaviour
Analysis 1 & 2, Cognitive Behavioural Approaches 1& 2, and
Behavioural Assessment.
In the first
two years, there is a significant depth of study that
incorporates special populations,
psychology, research
methods and ethics of the profession. In senior years, this
