With regard to <strong>the</strong> geographical setting of <strong>the</strong> top three news stories, national news<br />

was most prevalent, comprising more than 90% of news broadcast in <strong>the</strong> on-air bulletin<br />

at 14:00.<br />

Politics, economics and society were also <strong>the</strong> most prevalent topics in <strong>the</strong> news stories<br />

sampled from <strong>the</strong> radio station webpages. Online accounts of economic topics were<br />

more extensive than <strong>the</strong> equivalent news broadcast on <strong>the</strong> main news program. In<br />

most cases, however, it should be noted that <strong>the</strong> focus of such economic news<br />

comprised political assessments of <strong>the</strong> unemployment figures.<br />

On <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r hand, sports featured prominently in <strong>the</strong> three main news stories<br />

published on <strong>the</strong> Radiotelevisión Española website. Moreover, society news was more<br />

prevalent among <strong>the</strong> three main online news stories than in on-air broadcasts.<br />
