7. Receiving and sending7.1 The cycle of communicationWhen receiving a message, intrapersonal proceedings or steps are happening in aperson before one reacts. In general we follow this scheme:Observing means to perceive, hear, seeor notice something through our senses.555ReactionInterpreting means attaching meaningto what has been observed, to what wasperceived. There is always a chance ofeither fully understanding the message,obtaining the core information ormisinterpreting what has been observed.It is important to be conscious thatthe interpretation can be correct orincorrect.Feeling means answering to theobservation and interpretation ofthe message with the emotions thatemerge within the receiver. Thereis no question of whether a feeling iscorrect or not — a feeling is a fact.Reacting means that feedback, ananswer, any kind of reaction follows.One should consider that the reactionto a message is based on individualemotions.7 .
