5.1. <strong>CSR</strong> at the workplace<br />

In short<br />

<strong>Corporate</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Responsibility</strong> (<strong>CSR</strong>) as employee-oriented workplace culture<br />

sustainably promotes the employees' dedication and consequently corporate<br />

success because motivated and reliable employees are a crucial success<br />

factor for any company. The attractiveness as an employer and the employees'<br />

readiness to take action and perform are directly linked to the human qualities<br />

and professional perspectives the workplace offers within the company. In the<br />

process, the range of <strong>CSR</strong> measures for employees <strong>is</strong> broad and based on the<br />

corporate sectors and the employees' activities: <strong>CSR</strong> at the workplace covers<br />

everything ranging from available training and further education, preventative<br />

health measures and r<strong>is</strong>k management to worker participation, equal<br />

opportunities, compatibility of career and family, measures against workplace<br />

bullying and specific <strong>CSR</strong> actions for employees such as <strong>Corporate</strong><br />

Volunteering.<br />

<strong>CSR</strong> learning contents<br />

Companies in which <strong>Corporate</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Responsibility</strong> (<strong>CSR</strong>) <strong>is</strong> tied to the workplace<br />

are character<strong>is</strong>ed by the appreciation and respect of employees and a human<br />

resources policy that <strong>is</strong> based on partnership and involvement. The advantages of<br />

companies which act as responsible employers are equally extensive as the possible<br />

<strong>CSR</strong> measures at the workplace. With respect to training and continuing education,<br />

the long-term benefits of companies are motivated and better educated employees.<br />

Th<strong>is</strong> allows the companies to improve their quality management and as a result their<br />

corporate value. In the field of "<strong>Corporate</strong> Volunteering", the social corporate<br />

commitment overlaps with human resources development goals: Companies release<br />

employees and teams from their service during the regular work hours to pursue<br />

voluntary activities. Th<strong>is</strong> specifically promotes the employees' qualifications and at<br />

the same time the <strong>CSR</strong> of the company in the local community.<br />

<strong>Social</strong>ly responsible companies making anticipatory investments into preventive<br />

measures to promote health and occupational safety can use <strong>CSR</strong> to implement<br />
