department, the editorial staff of the employee newspaper or committed department<br />

heads. Especially in small enterpr<strong>is</strong>es, the management itself <strong>is</strong> often the most<br />

important multiplier.<br />

The credible and sustainably prom<strong>is</strong>ing implementation of <strong>CSR</strong> in the company<br />

requires the cooperation of all employees. The "co-responsibility" of the workforce<br />

can easily have a positive effect with specific measures especially in the <strong>CSR</strong> subarea<br />

of the environment. A variety of practical guidelines have been developed by<br />

companies and additional free information and motivational materials such as posters<br />

are available which are designed to encourage employees to act in an<br />

environmentally conscious way.<br />

In many industrial<strong>is</strong>ed nations, the energy consumption in offices increases by an<br />

average of about 1.5% every year, thus representing permanently r<strong>is</strong>ing costs for the<br />

company. In contrast, the observation of some simple rules in connection with the<br />

purchase and use of office equipment leads to a significant cost savings potential.<br />

Tip for employees: paper & printing<br />

An average of 800'000 tons of paper are used in offices and admin<strong>is</strong>trations<br />

throughout Germany every year, corresponding to more than 320 million packages of<br />

DIN A4-sized paper containing 500 sheets.<br />

Tip for employees: waste reduction<br />
