<strong>CSR</strong> engagement <strong>is</strong> also beneficial for Siemens itself, because the company relies<br />

on public acceptance and benefits from an increasing demand for trendsetting<br />

solutions. Aside from educational projects and social engagement, the dialogue with<br />

society and the promotion of the arts and culture play a pioneering role for<br />

innovations. In doing so, the stakeholder dialogue helps the company understand the<br />

needs and requirements of its environment and constructively approach new<br />

developments.<br />

In recognition of th<strong>is</strong> social engagement, Siemens has received a number of<br />

significant awards from governmental and private organ<strong>is</strong>ations in Hungary. Broad<br />

social circles benefit from the company's social engagement. It strengthens the<br />

company's image not only as a reliable technology partner, but also as a "<strong>Corporate</strong><br />

Citizen" and attractive employer.<br />

How do stakeholders benefit from the company's <strong>CSR</strong> activities?<br />

The promotion of the educational and university system promotes the relationships<br />

between the industry and science and makes it possible to improve the educational<br />

standard especially in technical fields and to d<strong>is</strong>burse the latest technological knowhow.<br />

In addition, the Siemens' educational activities increase the reputation and<br />

attractiveness of technical professions and natural sciences in general. Th<strong>is</strong> fact can<br />

contribute to an environment-related formation and education of future generations.<br />

The company uses charitable activities to help address problems of d<strong>is</strong>advantaged<br />

groups and fellow citizens in need and to reduce hardships and to strengthen social<br />

solidarity.<br />

By promoting culture, Siemens makes it possible for the broader public to gain<br />

access to the arts and supports art<strong>is</strong>ts and persons engaged in the cultural sector to<br />

a high degree. Siemens also combines the co-operation between the company and<br />

cultural institutions by organ<strong>is</strong>ing theatre nights, guided museum tours or concert<br />

v<strong>is</strong>its for its employees.<br />

programmes with an international focus. For th<strong>is</strong> purpose, contrast the company's<br />

umbrella strategy with <strong>CSR</strong> programmes with a purely national focus. In doing so,<br />

take into account the company's point of view as well as the different perspectives of<br />
