FIVE-YEAR PLAN (2007-2012)<br />

I. AIMS<br />

1. To align with the school aims to develop students’ abilities<br />

2. To develop students’ interest in the world of chemistry and help them derive<br />

pleasure from it<br />

3. To help students acquire the ability to think scientifically and independently, and to<br />

make rational decisions<br />

4. To raise students’ awareness of the social, economic, environmental and<br />

technological implications of chemistry, and encourage them to show concern about<br />

the local environment and society<br />

5. To enhance students’ readiness to become responsible citizens in a changing world<br />

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS<br />

1. Strengths<br />

a. The chemistry laboratory technician is experienced and can work independently<br />

b. The chemistry laboratory is well-equipped<br />

c. The relationship among all panel members is good. They are cooperative and<br />

helpful<br />

d. Current teaching members in the panel are experienced in teaching the subject<br />

(with over 5 years of experience)<br />

e. Teachers teaching senior forms (S.6 and S.7) are familiar with the TAS<br />

(Teacher Assessment Scheme)<br />

2. Weaknesses<br />

a. Some S3, S4 and S5 students are not self-motivated<br />

b. Some students are weak in English which affects their comprehension of public<br />

examination questions<br />
