FIVE-YEAR PLAN (2007-2012)<br />

I. AIMS<br />

1. To align with the school aims to develop students’ abilities<br />

2. To develop creativity and critical thinking and nurture aesthetic sensitivity<br />

3. To build up cultural awareness and positive values through arts activities<br />

4. To enable students to gain delight, enjoyment and satisfaction through<br />

participation in arts activities<br />

5. To help students pursue a life-long interest in arts<br />

6. To integrate different art-forms into students’ projects with a theme close to their<br />

lives<br />

7. To promote self-learning habits and various generic skills<br />

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS<br />

1. Strengths<br />

a. Teachers are very experienced in their teaching and administrative work<br />

b. The school board offers freedom for the subject to create a school-based and<br />

innovative curriculum<br />

c. The diversified and well-established arts activities act as a good supplement to<br />

the curriculum<br />

d. Students are well-behaved and obedient, it facilitates the bringing about of<br />

outings and highly interactive activities in the lessons<br />

2. Weaknesses<br />

a. The subject is new to most of the form one students who are therefore<br />

unfamiliar with the requirement and skills<br />

b. The curriculum is totally school-based so it is difficult to find common<br />

experience from other schools as reference<br />

III. OBJECTIVES<br />

1. To develop creativity and imagination of our students<br />

2. To cultivate students’ critical responses towards art works<br />

3. To help them understand the cultural contexts in which the arts are placed and their<br />

relationship to people’s lives and societies<br />

4. To develop students’ artistic skills through the integration of art forms in the<br />

art-making activities<br />

5. To enhance students’ I.T. skills by applying information technology in arts<br />

production<br />

6. To enable students to acquire the basic knowledge of arts<br />

7. To foster students with positive values and attitudes towards different arts and<br />

cultures<br />

8. To develop students’ communicative, collaborative and problem-solving skills<br />

through group learning activities<br />
