CULTURAL SUBJECTS<br />

FIVE-YEAR PLAN (2007-2012)<br />

I. AIMS<br />

1. To formulate a set of school-based developmental strategies for cultural subjects<br />

aligning with the direction and recommendations provided by the EDB and the<br />

School Academic Affairs Committee<br />

2. To enhance students’ abilities with an all-rounded education<br />

3. To coordinate the pace of development among the cultural subjects<br />

4. To coordinate cultural subjects by encouraging more exchange among teachers<br />

and arranging more joint activities<br />

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS<br />

1. Strengths<br />

a. Teachers are very experienced in their teaching and administrative work<br />

b. Students are generally interested in participating in cultural activities, which<br />

facilitates the development of the overall cultural policies of the school<br />

c. The school offers enough support and flexibility for subject panels to design<br />

their own curriculum and activities<br />

d. The current diversified cultural activities and innovative cultural curriculum<br />

facilitate the implementation of the school’s cultural educational policy<br />

2. Weaknesses<br />

a. Under the examination-oriented educational system, even students who are<br />

interested in cultural activities generally perceive the subjects as less important<br />

than academic subjects<br />

III. OBJECTIVES<br />

1. To establish effective communication among the cultural subjects<br />

2. To align with the policies set by the Academic Affairs Committee, ensure good<br />

operation of respective cultural schemes and programmes<br />

3. To carry out more joint activities with other KLA or committees<br />

4. To co-ordinate the pace of development among the cultural subjects<br />

5. To enhance the development of generic skills of the students<br />

6. To assist other cultural activity groups in practising the school’s cultural policy<br />
