FIVE-YEAR PLAN (2007-2012)<br />

I. AIMS<br />

1. To impart basic knowledge of computer studies, information technology and their<br />

daily application required by CDC<br />

2. To equip students with basic skills of using IT in daily life<br />

3. To equip students with a wide range of IT skills for communicating effectively<br />

4. To help students develop problem-solving skills by using IT<br />

5. To promote students’ self-learning skills<br />

6. To encourage students and arouse their interest in using different aspects of<br />

computer application in daily life<br />

7. To equip teachers with professional and updated knowledge<br />

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS<br />

1. Strengths<br />

a. Resources, such as computer system, IT equipment and financial support from<br />

the Education Bureau, are sufficient<br />

b. The majority of teachers are well-equipped and experienced<br />

c. All teachers are cooperative and helpful<br />

d. Teaching resources such as CD ROM, IT teaching materials are well organized<br />

e. There is a well established system of filing past papers, minutes and stock<br />

keeping in the Technology panel<br />

f. Teachers are highly self-motivated to keep abreast of the rapid development of<br />

hardware and software<br />

g. A subject homepage for teaching and learning is being developed<br />

2. Weaknesses<br />

a. There is insufficient time to cover the syllabus<br />

b. Teachers have to make a great effort in learning new technology to cope with<br />

the rapidly-changing computer technological development<br />

c. Teaching resources for the new syllabus are inadequate, so teachers have to<br />

make extra effort to prepare new teaching materials<br />

d. Students are weak in higher order thinking<br />

e. Students can only do practice at school as there are no suitable IT facilities<br />

(hardware and software) at home<br />
