FIVE-YEAR PLAN (2007-2012)<br />

I. AIMS<br />

1. To align with the school aims to develop students’ abilities<br />

2. To help students acquire different skills offered by this subject in solving problems<br />

independently<br />

3. To expose them to different areas of Physics so as to initiate them in to exploration<br />

in the world of Physics<br />

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS<br />

1. Strengths<br />

a. The majority of the teachers are well-equipped and experienced<br />

b. All teachers in the panel are cooperative and helpful<br />

c. There is a good filing system of teaching resources, such as past papers,<br />

marking scheme / solution, notes (several levels), etc.<br />

d. The laboratory is well organised and the stock system is up-to-date<br />

e. Students’ performance in Physics in public examinations is above the Hong<br />

Kong average<br />

f. Teachers are very adaptive to up-to-date teaching methods<br />

g. Teachers are IT competent<br />

h. The school provides reasonably enough resources to facilitate interactive and<br />

active learning<br />

2. Weaknesses<br />

a. Students’ self-motivation is low<br />

b. Students are weak in logical thinking<br />

c. The English comprehension and presentation ability of some students are weak,<br />

which may result from too many technical terms in the subject<br />

d. Students lack common sense and awareness of life experiences<br />

III. OBJECTIVES<br />

1. To help students develop analytical power in handling subject knowledge and<br />

solving different problems<br />

2. To help students discover and strengthen their ability in studying Physics through<br />

assessments and various kinds of activities<br />

3. To train students, with the use of IT, to gather and analyse data and to perform<br />

assessments by themselves<br />
