; v VI. There shall be an Executive Council in and for the Colony, Executive CounoU^<br />

s^ilid the said Council shall consist of such persons as We shall direct ' T<br />

by Instructions under Our Sign Manual and Signet, and all such<br />

persons shall hold their places in the said Council during Our<br />

pleasure :<br />

Provided that the persons who are members of the Executive<br />

Council of the Island of Cyprus at the date of the coming into<br />

operation of these Our Letters Patent, shall be and be deemed to<br />

be members of the Executive Council of Our Colony of Cyprus, but<br />

subject always to any conditions, provisoes, and limitations prescribed<br />

by any Instructions under Our Sigh Manual and Signet<br />

or by Us through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State.<br />

VII. The Governor may by an Instrument under the Public ^"mSra'^f^tbe<br />

Seal, suspend any person appointed by name from the exercise of Executive ccuneiL<br />

his functions as a Member of the Executive Council. Every such<br />

suspension shall be forthwith reported by the Governor to Us<br />

through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State, and shall remain<br />

in fbrce unless and until either it shall be removed by the Governor<br />

by an Instrument under the said Public Seal, or it shall be disallowed<br />

by Us through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State, and such<br />

disa-Uowance shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Colony.<br />

If the suspension is eonfirmed by Us through one of Our Principal<br />

Secretaries of Staie the Governor shall forthwith by an Instrument<br />

under the Public Seal revoke the appointment of such Member and<br />

thereupon his seat in the Council shall become vacant.<br />

, VIII. On and after a date to be fixed by the Governor by Legislative<br />

Proclamation in the Cyprus Gazette, the Legislative Council con- Co"^°^^stituted<br />

in accordiance with the above recited Order in Council<br />

of the Sixth day of July, 1907, shall cease to exist, and in place<br />

thereof there shall be a Legislative Council in and for the Colony<br />

constituted in such manner and consisting of the Governor and<br />

such persons as are directed by Our Order in Our Privy Council<br />

dated the Sixth day of February, 1925, and known as the Cyprus<br />

(Legislative Council) Order in Council, 1925, or by any Order in<br />

Onr Privy Council adding to, amending or substituted for the<br />

same, or by any Instructions under Our Sign Manual and Signet,<br />

or by Us through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State.<br />

Until the datC: to be fixed by the Governor as aforesaid but nt)<br />

longer the constitution, appointment, and powers of the Legislative<br />

Coiincil constituted in accordance with the said Order in Council<br />

of the Sixth day Of July, 1907, shall continue in force notwithstanding<br />

the revocation of the said Order in Council under the provisions of<br />

these Our Letters, I?atent.<br />

'• " IX. It shall be lawful for the Governor, with the advice and Power of<br />

consent of the Legislative Council hereby estabhshed, to make all legislation,<br />

such laws as may.from time to time be necessary for the peace,<br />

order, and good government of the Colony, subject always to iny<br />

conditions provisoes and Mmitations prescribed by the said Cyprus<br />

(legislative Council) Order in Council, 1925, or by any other Order<br />

in Council or by any Instructions under Our Sign Manual and Signet<br />

and to this qualification, that it shall not be lawful for the Governor<br />

and the Legislative Council to make any law altering the constitution<br />

of the Legislative Council.<br />

The Governor shall have a negative voice in the making and Governors\etc.<br />

passing of all such laws.<br />

-y Until repealed or revoked by or in pursuance of any law passed<br />

by the Legislative Council now subsisting or by the Legislative<br />

Council hereby estabhshed, all laws, proclamations, regulations or<br />

other enactments heretofore in force in Cyprus shall remain in<br />

force and continue to have full effect in the Colony.<br />
