A PROCLAMATION,<br />

Governor.<br />

IN exercise of the powers Vested in me by Letters<br />

Patent passed under the Great Seal of the United<br />

Kingdom, dated the lOtJi day of March, 1925, and of<br />

all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I,<br />

Malcolm Stevenson, Knight Commander of the Most<br />

Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint<br />

George, His Majesty's Governor and Commander-in-<br />

Chief in and over the Colony of Cyprus, do hereby<br />

proclaim as follows :—<br />

WHEREAS it is deemed expedient for the better<br />

preservation of peace and good order during the conduct<br />

of the election of non-Mohammedan Members to serve<br />

on the Legislative Council for the 1st, Snd and Srd<br />

Electoral Districts: ^<br />

No person throughout the administrative District<br />

of Nicosia shall carry any firearm or other offensive<br />

weapon between the hour of 6 a,m. on the Sth day<br />

of October, 1925, and the hour of 6 a.m. on the<br />

10th day of October, <strong>1925.</strong><br />

Given at Nicosia, this 6th day of October, <strong>1925.</strong><br />

A PROCLAMATION.<br />

Governor.<br />

WHEREAS by the Locust Destruction Expenses<br />

Law, 1881, it is amongst other things provided<br />

that there shall be charged, collected and paid for the<br />

pwiod and purposes set forth in the said law certain<br />

Tates, duties and taxes mentioned in ceitain Schedules<br />

A. B. C. D. and E. thereto.<br />

AND WHEREAS by the same law it is further provided<br />

that the Governor in Council may from time to<br />

time by Proclamation suspend, in whole or in part,<br />

from a day to be named in the order, the collection<br />

of any of the rates, taxes and duties specified in any of<br />

the aforesaid Schedules to the said law and may from<br />

time to time in like manner rescind or vary such order.<br />

Now I, Malcolm Stevenson, Knight Commander of<br />

the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and<br />

Saint George, Govemor and Commander-in-Chief in<br />

and 6ver the Colony of Cyprus, in exercise of the<br />

i powers vested in me by the Locust Destruction Expenses<br />

Law, 1881, and otherwise, and with the advice of the<br />

Executive Council, do hereby order as follows :<br />

(a) The duties and taxes mentioned in •Schedules<br />

A. B, and E, shall be suspended from the 1st day of<br />

March, 1926, for the period of one year,<br />

(b) The collection of the duties and taxes mentioned<br />

in Schedules C, and D. shall be suspended<br />

uniH further notice.<br />

(c) This Proclamation shall come into forCe on<br />

the 1st day of March, 1926, and thereupon the<br />

Proclamation, dated the 24th day of September,<br />

1923, dealing with this matter shall be superseded<br />

by this Proclamation.<br />

ORDER OF HIS EXCELLENCY <strong>THE</strong><br />

GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.—No. 1074.<br />

IN exercise of the powers in him vested by the-<br />

Customs, Excise, and Revenue Law, 1899, and the<br />

Phylloxera Prevention Law, 1890, and of all other<br />

powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the<br />

advice of the Executive Council, His Excellency the<br />

Governor is pleased to order, and is hereby ordered as<br />

follows :—<br />

The order in Council No. 1033, dated the 3 Ist<br />

December, 1924, and published in the Cyprus Gazette<br />

No. 1668 of the 2nd of January, 1925, is hereby<br />

amended by the deletion from Schedule C of the<br />

words " Corky Scab (Spongospora Subterranea).''^<br />
