contracts for any money, gift, loan, or valuable consideration,<br />

office, place or employment, for himself or<br />

for any other person, for voting or agreeing to vote or<br />

for refraining or agreeing to refrain from voting at any<br />

such election ;<br />

(6) Every person who, after any election under this<br />

Order, directly or indirectly, by himself or by any other<br />

person on his behalf, receives any money or valuable<br />

consideration on account of any person having voted<br />

or refrained from voting or having induced any other<br />

person to vote or refrain from voting at any such election.<br />

28,^ Every person ^whq^is ^convict^cl, of bri]t>er^, .treating,<br />

undue influence or personation, or of aiding, counselling<br />

or procuring the commission of the offence of personation,<br />

"shall (in addition to any other punishment) be incapable<br />

during a period of seven years from the date of his conviction,<br />

(1) of being registered as an Elector, or voting at any<br />

election of a member of the Council;<br />

(2) of being elected a member of the Council or, if<br />

elected before his conviction, of retaining his seat as<br />

such member.<br />

29. Every person who—<br />

(1) votes, or induces or procures any person to vote<br />

at any election, knowing that he or such other person<br />

is prohibited by this Order, or by any law, from voting<br />

at such election ;<br />

(2) before or during an election knowingly publishes<br />

a false statement of the withdrawal of a candidate at<br />

Yiisuoh ejection for th^^ purpose of promoting or procuring<br />

the election of another candidate ;<br />

shall be guilty of an illegal practice, and shall on summary<br />

conviction thereof, be liable to a fine not exceeding ten<br />

pounds and be incapable during a period of five years<br />

from the date of his conviction, of being registered as an<br />

elector.<br />

30. Subject to the provisions of this Order the Govemor<br />

may, from time to time, by proclamation, provide for the<br />

formation, revision, and custody of voters' lists, and for<br />

the duties of Returning Officers, and for determining the<br />

time and place for holding elections, and the manner in<br />

which elections shall be conducted and a poll taken when<br />

required, and the manner in which votes shall be given<br />

and the result ascertained, and for the return of the writs,<br />

and for all other matters necessary to the orderly and<br />

impartial conduct of elections.<br />

Every such proclamation shall take effect from such<br />

date as shall be named therein, or, if no date be named<br />

therein, from the date thereof, and shall have the force<br />

of law, but shall be subject to disallowance in whole or<br />

in part by His Majesty, signified through a Secretary of<br />

State. The Governor shall, by proclamation, give notice<br />

of any such disallowance, and thereupon the provisions<br />

so disallowed shall cease to be of any force or effect.<br />

31. Any Elected Member may resign his seat in the<br />
