respond<strong>in</strong>g figure for <strong>Muslim</strong> men stands at 29 per cent. This<br />

result is consistent with the f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs of the Religionsmonitor,<br />

which states that considerably more <strong>Muslim</strong> women than <strong>Muslim</strong><br />

men <strong>in</strong> <strong>Germany</strong> pray several times a day (Wunn 2008: 63).<br />

The differences between the genders are visible <strong>in</strong> all groups<br />

of orig<strong>in</strong> with the exception of the <strong>Muslim</strong>s from Central Asia.<br />

However, the higher frequency of prayer among male <strong>Muslim</strong>s<br />

from Central Asia should not be over-<strong>in</strong>terpreted, due to the<br />

small number of cases with<strong>in</strong> this group.<br />

Celebration of religious festivals<br />

<strong>Muslim</strong>s state more frequently than members of other<br />

religions that they celebrate religious festivals and holidays<br />
