The average age of household members for the countries of<br />

orig<strong>in</strong> covered is 30.3 years old. Persons without a religious affiliation<br />

are considerably younger, while <strong>Muslim</strong>s, at 30.1 years<br />

of age, are slightly younger and members of other religions are<br />

older (figure 13). The average age of <strong>Muslim</strong>s from various regions<br />

of orig<strong>in</strong> varies between a low of 27.2 years among immigrants<br />

from Southeast Europe and their dependents and a high<br />

of 34.1 years among persons from Iran or Central Asia/CIS.<br />

If a comparison is made between the age structure of<br />

the population of <strong>Muslim</strong>s studied with the total population<br />

of <strong>Germany</strong> and the population <strong>in</strong> <strong>Germany</strong> with a migrant<br />

background us<strong>in</strong>g data from the 2007 microcensus, it becomes<br />

clear that this is a young population group. The microcensus<br />
