While these f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs reveal greater reserve towards <strong>in</strong>terreligious<br />

partnerships when the focus is on female children,<br />

it rema<strong>in</strong>s unclear whether a different standard is actually applied<br />

to daughters than to sons or whether pronounced overlaps<br />

exist <strong>in</strong> the decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g process regard<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>terreligious<br />

openness of the <strong>in</strong>terviewees, irrespective of whether<br />

sons or daughters are concerned.<br />

An assessment of whether persons would reach the same<br />

decision for daughters and sons respectively or whether they<br />

would apply different standards to the two genders with regard<br />

to a partnership with a person belong<strong>in</strong>g to a different faith produces<br />

the follow<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

91 per cent of those who have neither a daughter nor a<br />

son would reach the same decision for sons and daughters. The
