The employment rate is calculated as the share of ga<strong>in</strong>fully<br />

employed persons as a percentage of the population as a<br />

whole, based on the age group of 15- to 64-year-olds. 67 The microcensus<br />

reveals a marked divergence <strong>in</strong> the employment rate<br />

among the population with and without a migrant background<br />

respectively. In 2005 the employment rate <strong>in</strong> the population<br />

with a migrant background stood at 56 per cent, as compared<br />

to 68 per cent among the population without a migrant background.<br />

Major differences also apply with<strong>in</strong> the overall group<br />

of migrants, however. The employment rate among ethnic<br />

German repatriates stood at 63 per cent, for example, while the<br />
