change <strong>in</strong> the future, follow<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>troduction of the<br />

new obligation to sit the f<strong>in</strong>al exam<strong>in</strong>ation. Here, the<br />

additional and specific promotional measures as already<br />

offered with the reformed structures of the <strong>in</strong>tegration<br />

course must take hold to ensure that no one is<br />

left beh<strong>in</strong>d. Such measures must consider the different<br />

requirements for us<strong>in</strong>g the German language, i.e. colloquial<br />

use to get by <strong>in</strong> everyday life and also the written<br />

skills that are crucial to success at school and work.<br />

> Integration through education: An improvement <strong>in</strong><br />

education standards is evident from one generation<br />

to the next as for all groups of orig<strong>in</strong> far fewer people<br />

educated <strong>in</strong> <strong>Germany</strong> leave school without any schoolleav<strong>in</strong>g<br />

school-leavers without school-leav<strong>in</strong>g qualifications<br />

reveals the education deficits among immigrants and<br />

Members of the second generation whose parents<br />

achieved a high standard of education <strong>in</strong> their country<br />

of orig<strong>in</strong> do not manage to reproduce this level of education<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>Germany</strong> <strong>in</strong> all groups. Here, the approaches<br />

for promot<strong>in</strong>g both school and extracurricular education<br />

that have already been the subject of <strong>in</strong>-depth<br />

public discussion must be implemented with rigour. A<br />

dual strategy of promotional measures for people with<br />

low qualifications and people with high qualifications<br />

must be pursued. The lower standard of education and<br />

the lower tra<strong>in</strong>eeship rate among <strong>Muslim</strong> women who
