This gender-specific difference can be linked to various
causes: In statistical terms, there is an undersupply of potential
female Muslim spouses in Germany, as the number of male immigrants
in Germany from many major countries of origin exceeds
the number of women - and markedly so in some instances
(chapter 2.2.3). This predominance of male immigrants was
particularly pronounced in the initial phase of the recruitment
