Buona visione e buon ascolto. – ANTONIO COPPOLA
Like all Feyder’s films, Crainquebille has its own infallible rhythm, which
is already powerfully and infallibly evident by the third scene. Once the
rhythm is established, the music flows through the images just as it runs
through the verses of a good opera libretto, in which the task of the
composer is that of “discovering” rather than “creating”, and recording
the discovery on paper. With Crainquebille this discovery and the
consequent “transcribing” has truly been an enormous pleasure, which I
hope I have been able to transmit to the spectator in all its purity. The
near perfect restoration of the print, through the efforts of Lobster Films,
has made everything more easy and enjoyable, proving to me once more
that I have chosen one of the most beautiful jobs in the world. Enjoy your
viewing, and listening. – ANTONIO COPPOLA
