A highly topicalcongress programme with topspeakers is aimed at trade visitorsfrom home and abroad. The eventis being organised by DeutscherFachverlag. The Cooperation Partnersare German Butchers’ Association(Deutscher Fleischer-Verband– DFV), Federation of GermanMachine and Plant Manufacturers(Verband DeutscherMaschinen und Anlagenbau – VD-MA) and Messe Frankfurt. In aninitial, interdisciplinary section,the Congress, which takes placein the ‘Portalhaus’ entrance buildingof Frankfurt Fair and ExhibitionCentre from 13.00 to 17.00hrs, will review sustainability inthe meat-processing sector, oneof the most important subjectsin the sector. The main subjects tobe covered include new packagingand packaging aids, innovationsin the fields of communication,labelling, training and further education.New products and shopfittingtrends will show what thebutcher’s shop of the future couldlook like.Foodmeat 155 maggio 2013New: international qualitycompetition for products incans and jarsThe international quality competitionsorganised by the GermanButchers’ Association (DeutscherFleischer-Verband – DFV) in Hall4.1 are always a magnet for visitors.At the competition area,butchers demonstrate their multi-facetedartisan skills and thequality of their products, andmeasure themselves against internationalcompetitors. New thisyear is the international qualitycompetition for products incans and jars, which takes accountof the trend to conveniencefood. Participants can enterready-to-eat dishes, such asroulade, goulash, rissoles, stewsand soups, as well as sausagesin cans, jars, tubular bags, trays,etc. Other competition highlightsinclude the 2nd InternationalFront Cooking Competition andthe International Competition forYoung Butchers. As in the past,the communicative focus for visitorswill be the ‘Market Place ofthe Butchers’ Trade’. The only differenceis that it will be locatedin Hall 4.1 this year. Among theactivities taking place there willbe the ‘Taste Test’ and the ‘ByArtisans for the Butcher’s Shop’special show. The accompanyingevents organised by Zentrag/Gildewill also be located there.Iffa Family Day on 9 May9 May, Ascension Day, is Iffa FamilyDay. Families are particularlywelcome on this day and tradevisitors can bring their entire familywith them using their admissionticket. There will be a special programmeaimed at children from sixto 12 while the little ones aged betweenthree and six will be lookedafter by trained staff in the MesseFrankfurt kindergarten. n
