SUMMARY
3. Find out if any of the constraint cards are workable backlog cards
that allows the team to place sound activities in the workable backlog
according to the rules listed above.
4. If there are any constraints from previous weeks that have not been
removed it is allowed to remove one of these.
5. If there are any activities in the workable backlog that can be placed
in the weekly work plan to shield any unsound activities it is allowed
to do so.
6. Use 6 throws with the dice to remove any given constraint within the
look ahead window. The constraint the team wishes to remove is
pointed out before throwing the dice. If a constraint from previous
weeks that has not been removed is picked the percentage stated
under the number 1 is valid.
7. Register PPC and plot in the diagram handed out.
8. Continue to build the Lego house. It is not necessary to complete
one layer in the horse before stating on the next layer.
In the following a more detailed programme for how the game can be introduced
at the workshop given by TI is presented.
THE PROGRAMME OF THE WORKSHOP
As determined earlier the scene for using the game is the first workshop in the
new education programme for project managers developed by TI. According to TI
the themes for the workshop are:
- The process flow in the construction industry.
- The seven flows (materials, information, equipment, the right people,
the environment, space and the previous activity has to be finished).
- Lean Construction, the Last Planner System and the TFV theory.
- Pilot projects and case studies.
In order to introduce the themes on the workshop listed above the game only addresses
some aspects within workflow. Furthermore the game only uses some of
the techniques available in the Last Planner System (the look ahead window, PPC,
constraints analysis and the workable backlog). To this end the game may be
played in a sequence as shown in Figure 9.
