Assistive Technology for Writing including Motor Aspects

Writing is a complex process that involves both the physical mechanics of handwriting and
the cognitive component of creating or composing written material. In this section of the
manual we have provided a series of resources and information related to both aspects of
writing. We have divided the chapter into two sections Motor Aspects of Writing and
Composing Written Material.
In Motor Aspects of Writing, you will find information on low tech adaptations and portable
word processors. In Composing Written materials you will find a chart on voice recognition
software that highlights some software that can be useful for both components of writing.
