<strong>The</strong>n the Father, or in his absence the God-father, shal rehearse the Articles <strong>of</strong><br />

his faithe ; which doone, the Minister exhorting the people to praye, sayeth<br />

in this manner, or suche like, kneeling :<br />

Almightie and everlasting God, which <strong>of</strong> thy infinite mercie and<br />

goodness hast promised unto us that thow wilt not only be our God,<br />

but also the God and Father <strong>of</strong> our children : we beseche thee, that<br />

as thou hast vouchesaved to call us to be partakers <strong>of</strong> this thy<br />

great merci? in the felowshipe <strong>of</strong> faithe, so it may please thee to<br />

sanctifie with thy Sprite, and to receive in to the number <strong>of</strong> thy<br />

children this infant, whom we shall baptise according to thy<br />

Woord, to the end that he comming to perfite age, may confesse
