I know well that ingenious, careless men will ridicule and laugh<br />

at, and mock this little work because that the language wants the<br />

polish <strong>of</strong> the poets, and because the words want force ; and if there<br />

be a defect in the words used, or in the mode <strong>of</strong> writing them, or<br />

if one letter be substituted for another in this book, this is not to<br />

be wondered at, as the printer had not one word <strong>of</strong> Gaelic, but<br />
