to give the honour which belongs to the one true God to otiier<br />

creatures, and when we do tliis, we make other Gods to<br />

ourselves, so far as we can, for when we give thanks for the<br />

gifts which we have received from God to any other creature<br />

in heaven or in earth save to God alone, or when we ask help<br />

for our souls or the forgiveness <strong>of</strong> sin from them, whether<br />

angels or saints, we are breaking this commandment, and<br />

making false gods for ourselves.<br />

M. Dost thou say that we ought not to make forms or images, nor<br />
