Let it please thee, O God ! to give him a tme zeale and affection<br />

to receive and acknowledge him for liis onlie Redeemer ; to the<br />

end also that thou mayest receive this sicke person to thy mercie,<br />

qualifying al the troubles which his sinnes, the horror <strong>of</strong> cleath and<br />

dreadful feare <strong>of</strong> the same, may bring to his weake conscience.<br />

Neither suffer thou, O Lord, the assautes <strong>of</strong> the mightie adversarie<br />

to prevaile, or to take from him the comfortable hope <strong>of</strong> salvation,<br />

which thou givest to thy dearely beloved children.<br />

And forasmuche as we are all subject to the like state and condition,<br />

and to be visited with like battel when it shal please thee to<br />

call us unto the same; we beseech thee most humbly, O Lord, with<br />

this thy poore creature whome thou now presently chastisest, that<br />

thou wilt not extend thy rigorous judgment against him, but that<br />

thou wouldest vouchsafe to shewe him thy mercie, for the love <strong>of</strong><br />
