M. Nach bfuil ceadaighthe dhuit v-<br />

air ar bioth ainm De do thabhairt<br />

and it is tliey we ought to cherish, and not images <strong>of</strong> stone, or<br />

wood, or silver, or gold, which do not require to be cherished.<br />

M. It is wonderful that this was not taught to men before now<br />

and that it is in God's commandments ?<br />

U. <strong>The</strong> erring priests stole away this commandment from the<br />

Christian people, that they might place these lying images<br />

before the people as deceiving shadows in their own place,<br />

and so escape the performance <strong>of</strong> their own duty to the people,<br />

and besides from love to the gain they might obtain from the<br />

ignorant people in honour <strong>of</strong> these accursed images.<br />

M. Is it not lawful for thee at any time to use the name <strong>of</strong> God<br />

either in truth or falsehood, or how otherwise art thou to<br />

swear if not ?<br />

D. It is lawful for us to take the name <strong>of</strong> God when a judge<br />

reijuires us<br />
