BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT<br />

POWERGRID, an ISO 9001 certified company, has<br />

acquired in-house expertise at par with global standards<br />

in the field <strong>of</strong> Planning, Engineering, Load Despatch<br />

and Communication, Telecommunication, Contracting,<br />

Financial and Project Management. POWERGRID is<br />

executing various consultancy assignments in these<br />

areas as a part <strong>of</strong> its Business Development Activity. Till<br />

November 2005-06, POWERGRID has secured 19 nos. <strong>of</strong><br />

new consultancy assignments with a consultancy fee <strong>of</strong><br />

more than Rs. 110 Crore, corresponding to project cost<br />

<strong>of</strong> more than Rs. 716 Crore. During the year 2005-06,<br />

POWERGRID has realised consultancy fee <strong>of</strong> Rs. 41.05<br />

Crore (upto November) from its ongoing consultancy<br />

project.<br />

POWERGRID’s first International Consultancy Contract<br />

with Bhutan Telecom for establishment <strong>of</strong> OPGW system<br />

on turnkey basis in the Royal Kingdom <strong>of</strong> Bhutan was<br />

successfully completed on schedule. POWERGRID<br />

has secured the prestigious international Consultancy<br />

assignment against stiff competition from M/s Bhutan<br />

<strong>Power</strong> Corporation Limited for providing consultancy for<br />

MINISTRY OF POWER<br />

220/66 KV Substation at Pasakha Industrial Estate, Bhutan.<br />

Govt. <strong>of</strong> India has identified POWERGRID to implement<br />

on a turnkey basis a 220 kV Double Circuit transmission<br />

line from Pul-e-Khurmi to Kabul and a new 220/110/20<br />

kV sub-station at Kabul, a major infrastructure project in<br />

Afghanistan. This project cost is estimated to be about Rs.<br />

416 Crore. This challenging assignment has to be carried<br />

out facing hostile terrain at altitudes ranging from 1,800 m<br />

to 4,000 m above MSL and at temperatures as low as –30º<br />

C and is to be completed within 42 months.<br />

POWERGRID has secured an overseas consultancy<br />

assignment from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the<br />

construction <strong>of</strong> first 220 kV D/C Transmission Line in Nepal<br />

from Khimti to Dhalkebar (75 km) against a stiff competition<br />

with the inter-national reputed consultants from Germany,<br />

Japan, Australia & U.K. The estimated Project cost is US<br />

$ 22 Million and is being funded by World Bank. The total<br />

consultancy fee is about Rs. 100 lacs and is being funded<br />

by NEA.<br />

Bhutan <strong>Power</strong> Corporation on behalf <strong>of</strong> Royal Govt. <strong>of</strong><br />

Bhutan has appointed POWERGRID as a consultant to<br />

execute the work <strong>of</strong> construction <strong>of</strong> 132 kV single circuit<br />

transmission line (60 km) from Deothang in Bhutan to<br />

Shift engineers with the ULDC facilities on high vigil on grid operation<br />
