MINISTRY OF POWER<br />

All clearances accorded and project sanctioned in July,<br />

1998. All major works <strong>of</strong> the project were under progress<br />

but, project works at present are held up because <strong>of</strong><br />

agitation around the project area w.e.f. 09.06.2004<br />

demanding illegal crop compensation and due to poor<br />

law & order situation. Continuation or otherwise <strong>of</strong> the<br />

project is being reviewed in view <strong>of</strong> increase in the project<br />

cost. Revised Cost (October, 2004 PL): firmed up for Rs.<br />

687.80 Crs. (including IDC <strong>of</strong> Rs. 40.05 Crs.) by CEA on<br />

03.11.2005.<br />

4. PRESENT STATUS OF PIPELINE POWER PROJECT<br />

IN THE NORTH EASTERN STATES INCLUDING<br />

SIKKIM:<br />

TIPAIMUKH H.E. (MULTIPURPOSE) PROJECT (1500<br />

MW), MANIPUR:<br />

The Tipaimukh Hydro Electric (Multipurpose) Project (1500<br />

MW) is located in Churachandpur district <strong>of</strong> Manipur. The<br />

project envisages construction <strong>of</strong> 162.8 m high Rockfill<br />

5 PROJECTS UNDER SURVEY & INVESTIGATION AND DPR PREPARATION:<br />

Dam on river Barak to generate 1500 MW <strong>of</strong> power with<br />

6 units <strong>of</strong> 250 MW each having firm power <strong>of</strong> 434.44 MW.<br />

The project in addition to hydro power generation would<br />

provide benefits <strong>of</strong> flood moderation. The annual design<br />

energy <strong>of</strong> the project is estimated to be 3,806 MU at 90%<br />

dependable year. CEA has accorded Techno-Economic<br />

Clearance to the project at an estimated present day<br />

cost (at December, 2004 price level) <strong>of</strong> Rs. 6,701.79 Crs.<br />

including IDC and FC <strong>of</strong> Rs. 816.40 Crs.<br />

The above cost includes provisions for flood moderation,<br />

security, diversion <strong>of</strong> National Highway and NPV <strong>of</strong> forest<br />

land @ Rs. 422.06 Crs., Rs. 318.67 Crs., Rs. 157.74 Crs.<br />

and Rs. 1,100.78 Crs. respectively excluding IDC there<strong>of</strong>.<br />

These costs are required to be delinked from the project<br />

cost so as to make the project economically viable.<br />

PIB meeting held on 25.10.2005. CCEA clearance <strong>of</strong> the<br />

project is awaited. Technical specification and process for<br />

award <strong>of</strong> EPC contract are under progress.<br />

Under the 50,000 MW hydro-electric initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, NEEPCO has been entrusted the<br />

work <strong>of</strong> preparation <strong>of</strong> DPR <strong>of</strong> the following hydroelectric projects in the state <strong>of</strong> Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.<br />

5. Bhareli-I H.E. Project, Arunachal Pradesh. 1,120 MW Work is held up due to non receipt <strong>of</strong><br />

Environmental clearance.<br />

6. Bhareli-II H.E. Project, Arunachal Pradesh. 600 MW<br />

7. Kameng Dam H.E. Project, Arunachal Pradesh. 600 MW<br />

8. Demwe H.E. Project, Arunachal Pradesh. 3000 MW Survey & Investigation under<br />

progress.<br />

9. Mawhu H.E. Project, Meghalaya. 120 MW<br />

6. MOU rating <strong>of</strong> the Corporation for the last 2(two) years were excellent and it is also expected to achieve the same<br />

rating during 2005-06.<br />

7. NEEPCO is the first CPSU under <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> to have been accredited with ISO 9001-2000 (Quality), ISO 14001-<br />

1996 (Environment) and OHSAS 18001-1999 (Safety).
