technology has made ready for the commissioning <strong>of</strong> the<br />

project.<br />

PROJECT COMMISSIONING:<br />

The Project is scheduled for commissioning from March<br />

2006.<br />

REVISED COST ESTIMATE:<br />

The Revised Cost Estimate <strong>of</strong> Tehri Dam & HPP Stage-I (1000<br />

MW) including essential works <strong>of</strong> Tehri PSP amounting to<br />

Rs. 6621.32 Crs including IDC & FC <strong>of</strong> Rs. 560.00 Crs.<br />

at March ’03 PL was sanctioned by CCEA in Nov.’04,<br />

with project Commissioning by July ’05. Considering the<br />

revised commissioning schedule <strong>of</strong> March’06, completion<br />

cost <strong>of</strong> the Project has been worked out tentatively to Rs.<br />

7944.32 Crs. including IDC <strong>of</strong> Rs. 1154.48 Crs.<br />

EXPENDITURE:<br />

Total expenditure incurred upto December ’05 on Tehri<br />

Stage-I Project is Rs. 7451.80 Cr. Including IDC & FC Rs.<br />

981.22 Cr.<br />

REHABILITATION:<br />

• The rehabilitation work <strong>of</strong> the project affected families<br />

was commenced by the Govt. <strong>of</strong> Uttar Pradesh when<br />

the project was under them.<br />

Tehri underground <strong>Power</strong> house<br />

• After the incorporation <strong>of</strong> Tehri Hydro Development<br />

Corporation (THDC) the rehabilitation work was handed<br />

over to the THDC in 1990. The policy as evolved by the<br />

State Govt. was fully adopted by THDC.<br />

• Improvements/Upgradation <strong>of</strong> compensations were<br />

subsequently carried out from time to time mainly to<br />

account for escalations.<br />

• A substantial package <strong>of</strong> additional measures was<br />

introduced effective from 01.09.1995.<br />

• Further improvements in R&R Policy and Package<br />

were carried out in Dec. ’98, based on decisions <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Govt. on the Recommendations <strong>of</strong> Hanumantha Rao<br />

Committee (HRC).<br />

• As per Govt. decision R&R works were transferred to the<br />

U.P. State Govt. in Jan. ’99 for implementation, under<br />

control and supervision <strong>of</strong> commissioner, Garhwal,<br />

with funds to be provided by THDC. With the formation<br />

<strong>of</strong> Uttaranchal State, R&R is now being implemented<br />

by Uttaranchal State Govt.<br />

STATUS OF REHABILITATION:<br />

Due to construction <strong>of</strong> the Tehri Dam, the Old Tehri Town<br />

and 37 villages are getting fully affected and another 72<br />

villages will only be partially affected.
