INSTALLED CAPACITY
The all India installed capacity of electric power generating stations under utilities was 118419.09 MW as on 31.3.2005
consisting of 80902.45 MW thermal, 30935.63 MW hydro, 2770.00 MW nuclear, 2979.70 MW wind and 831.31 MW
Renewable Energy Sources which has increased to 1,23,900.81 MW as on 28.02.2006 consisting of 82,297.44 MW
thermal, 32135.05 MW hydro, 3310.00 MW nuclear and 6158.32 MW R.E.S.
CAPACITY ADDITION PROGRAMME FOR THE 10TH FIVE YEAR PLAN
A capacity addition of 41,110 MW has been targeted for the 10th Five Year Plan. Sector-wise details are as under:-

At the time of Mid Term Appraisal, a capacity addition of 36956 MW, against the target of 41110 MW, was found feasible
during 10th Plan period. The break-up is as under:-
