Patents and Technology Transfer<br />

The Institute has filed the following 4 new patent<br />

applications.<br />

1. PVC based FRLS using Sulfate Glass composition for<br />

cable insulation & sheathin applications.<br />

2. A device for location Diametrically opposite point &<br />

measuring diameter accurately inside large cylindrical,<br />

spherical or conical shells.<br />

3. Pulverized particle flow simulator test rig & method <strong>of</strong><br />

flow measurement.<br />

4. Stabilised Zirconia Plasma Sprayable powder and<br />

Industrial Process for its manufacture.<br />

Marketing & Publicity<br />

The Institute has stepped up its marketing activities both<br />

within the country & abroad. Within the country, emphasis<br />

was laid on marketing <strong>of</strong> third party inspection services for<br />

power equipment procured by utilities. As a result <strong>of</strong> this,<br />

the Institute got repeat orders for third party inspection<br />

services form Utilities such as BESCOM, TNEB, J&K<br />

UHBVN, DHBVN, APECL, HVPNL, Delhi Vidyut Board,<br />

APTRANSCO etc.<br />

Non Plan Expenditure<br />

The Institute has been meeting its non-plan expenditure<br />

through revenue generated by testing and consultancy for<br />

the last seventeen years.<br />

Dissemination <strong>of</strong> Information<br />

The Institute has been organizing Seminars, Conferences,<br />

Workshops and Training Programmes to disseminate<br />

knowledge & information gained by the Institute for the<br />

benefit on the Indian <strong>Power</strong> sector.<br />

The Institute has organised nine Seminars/ Conferences/<br />

Workshop upto 19th December, 2005 to disseminate<br />

knowledge & information gained by the Institute for<br />

the benefit <strong>of</strong> the Indian <strong>Power</strong> Sector. Three training<br />

programmes have been conducted to distribution engineers<br />

<strong>of</strong> the power sector under MoPUSAID sponsored DRUM<br />

programme. Also several noted Scientists/Engineers were<br />

invited to the Institute to deliver the state <strong>of</strong> art lectures for<br />

the benefit <strong>of</strong> the employees.<br />
