ACTIVITIES RELATING TO WOMEN EMPLOYEES<br />

There are 44 women employees in the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>. The representation <strong>of</strong> women employees at various level in the<br />

<strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> is indicated below:<br />

Employment <strong>of</strong> women in various grades in the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> depends on the nominations received from the recruiting<br />

agencies such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) etc.<br />

A Complaints Committee exists in the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> to look into the complaints <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment by the women<br />

employees <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ministry</strong>. A Women’s Cell too exists in the <strong>Ministry</strong> to oversee various welfare activities <strong>of</strong> women<br />

employees <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong><br />

Women employees <strong>of</strong> this <strong>of</strong>fice participate in all the<br />

activities such as sports, recreation , council activities.<br />

They are also made members <strong>of</strong> the Governing Bodies<br />

like CEA Departmental Canteen Management Committee<br />

BTPS<br />

10. Out <strong>of</strong> total number <strong>of</strong> 59 women employees, 9 are in<br />

Supervisory category, 23 in Executive Category & 27 in<br />

Workmen Category.<br />

like Law. Human Resources, Appraisal and Accounts etc.<br />

Steps taken for Welfare <strong>of</strong> women employees:<br />

• Generally women employees are not transferred<br />

except in cases <strong>of</strong> administrative exigency and even<br />

if transferred due care is taken to ensure that posting<br />

is made to the station where the spouse is posted. No<br />

women employee is posted to hard projects.
