MINISTRY OF POWER<br />
<strong>of</strong> Govt. <strong>of</strong> India’s Rajbhasha policy to promote Indian<br />
languages and Rajbhasha “Hindi”, POWERGRID has<br />
proved its commitment to ensure progressive use <strong>of</strong> Hindi<br />
in all its <strong>of</strong>fice works.<br />
For outstanding and noteworthy contributions in Hindi,a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> incentive and reward schemes are in force.<br />
To increase the use <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>ficial language and for its<br />
continued propagation, various activities like workshops<br />
to give training, meetings, poetry session, Publication<br />
<strong>of</strong> Hindi magazines/papers, lectures from eminent<br />
personalities are regularly organized. To achieve the goal<br />
as laid out in the Rajbhasha Annual Plan, POWERGRID<br />
has made all efforts to integrate use <strong>of</strong> Hindi in all aspects<br />
<strong>of</strong> management in the corporation and at all levels.<br />
The efforts made by POWERGRID in promoting the<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> Rajbhasha has been applauded in<br />
many forums which is reflected in POWERGRID bagging<br />
the Rajbhasha Shield <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, and is the<br />
recipients <strong>of</strong> many other awards ; viz. Rajbhasha Vikas<br />
Sammelan, Ghaziabad, Second Prize to the Grid Darpan<br />
by (Ank 11), Rashtriya Hindi Academy, Rupambara,<br />
Calcutta, the Rashtriya Rajbhasha Shield for the best<br />
Patrika, Bhasha and Sanskriti Award for excellent work in<br />
Hindi and excellent work <strong>of</strong> POWERGRID in the last five<br />
years.<br />
RURAL ELECTRIFICATION CORPORATION LIMITED<br />
In consonance with The Annual Programme for<br />
Implementation <strong>of</strong> Official Language during the year 2005-<br />
06, a brief description <strong>of</strong> special efforts made are given in<br />
the following paragraphs:<br />
1. From 14.09.2005 to 28.09.2005 Hindi Pakhwara was<br />
organised. During this period various competitions<br />
including debates, noting, drafting etc. were held for<br />
Executives as well as for non Executives.<br />
2. With a view to assess the use <strong>of</strong> Hindi six sections <strong>of</strong><br />
various Departments at the Corporate Office and four<br />
Project Offices were inspected<br />
Level <strong>of</strong> original correspondence made in Hindi in “A”<br />
region reached 66.72%, “B” region 66.33% and C”<br />
region 48.00%. This is 7% more as compared to the<br />
last year.<br />
Level <strong>of</strong> Noting in Hindi attained 40% which is 15%<br />
more compared to the last year.<br />
3. Regular Quarterly Meetings <strong>of</strong> Official Language<br />
Implementation Committee were held.<br />
Workshops were organized in which 27 Executives and<br />
25 Non Executives were benefited.<br />
A training programme <strong>of</strong> 21 days was organized<br />
from 01.12.2005 to 24.12.2005 at CIRE Hyderabad<br />
in association with The Central Translation Bureau<br />
(CTB). 18 <strong>of</strong>ficers have benefited from this training<br />
programme.<br />
4. REC website is available in Hindi as well as in English<br />
and is constantly being updated/amended.<br />
Standard pr<strong>of</strong>orma in use in the Corporation are<br />
available on the Intranet for use, in Hindi.<br />
5. All Publications, Report, Memorandum, Articles <strong>of</strong><br />
Association, Press Releases, etc. are compulsorily<br />
being issued bilingual.<br />
6. 62.20% <strong>of</strong> Library budget has been utilized for purchase<br />
<strong>of</strong> Hindi books.<br />
Executives and non Executives who have attempted<br />
Noting/Drafting in Hindi during 2004-05 will be evaluated<br />
and they will be given suitable prizes.<br />
50% <strong>of</strong> the prize money to winners in various<br />
competitions will be in the form <strong>of</strong> Hindi books and<br />
50% in cash.
