POWERGRID’s growing productivity through an average<br />
annual growth <strong>of</strong> about 40% in the asset base <strong>of</strong> the<br />
company is witnessed with a manpower growth <strong>of</strong> only<br />
about 1.7% per annum.<br />
Human Resource Development (HRD) is considered<br />
as a strategic function in POWERGRID. During the year,<br />
the company has designed and executed business<br />
aligned management development, technical training<br />
and competency enhancement programmes on its own<br />
and also in collaboration with reputed management<br />
development institutes such as IIMs, XLRI, ASCI, MDI and<br />
technical training institutes that include IITs, NPTI, and<br />
Hotline Training Centre.<br />
To motivate the employees further, a committee <strong>of</strong> eminent<br />

experts is envisaged to be set up to examine the grievances<br />
<strong>of</strong> the employees and to suggest remedial measures.<br />
Besides, common dining facilities in its new and modern<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice building at Gurgaon have been set up, which has<br />
had a positive impact on the work ethos and team spirit <strong>of</strong><br />
the employees.<br />
CITIZEN’S CHARTER<br />
POWERGRID formulated its Citizen’s Charter providing a<br />
visible front <strong>of</strong> its objectives, mission, commitments, terms<br />
<strong>of</strong> service and its obligation to the stakeholders. This is<br />
also intended to provide all information on schemes, plans<br />
and practices to users outside the organisation as well as<br />
information about accessing the services.<br />

POWERGRID, as the provider <strong>of</strong> inter-state transmission<br />
facilities and as operator <strong>of</strong> the countrywide electrical<br />
grids, has a pivotal role in country’s power sector.<br />
The sustainability <strong>of</strong> corporate values is proven by the fact<br />
that they are in consonance with the values cherished by<br />
the society. The objectives <strong>of</strong> the company are in alignment<br />
with the requirements <strong>of</strong> its stakeholders. End results <strong>of</strong><br />

ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL MANAGEMENT<br />
POWERGRID is one <strong>of</strong> the largest electrical power<br />
transmission utilities in the world. It constructs, owns and<br />
operates Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission network in<br />
India and carries out real time supervision and monitoring<br />
<strong>of</strong> power flow round the clock over the EHV network<br />
<strong>of</strong> the country in order to fulfill its goal <strong>of</strong> establishing a<br />
National Grid coupled with sustainable Development.<br />
POWERGRID has achieved the distinction <strong>of</strong> being the<br />
first Indian <strong>Power</strong> company certified with Integrated<br />
Management System (IMS) comprising <strong>of</strong> ISO: 9001<br />
for Quality Management, ISO: 14001 for Environment
