(57) Abstract :<br />

An implantable device for intramedullary implantation for fixation <strong>of</strong> fractured bones, comprising a wire having a bead at the tip,<br />

<strong>and</strong> a contraption at the base. The contraption <strong>and</strong> the bead maintain the length <strong>of</strong> the wire in the medulla <strong>of</strong> the fractured bone,<br />

<strong>and</strong> prevent retraction <strong>of</strong> the base <strong>of</strong> the wire or piercing <strong>of</strong> the tip <strong>of</strong> the wire when the fragments <strong>of</strong> the fractured bone contract or<br />

collapse.<br />
