1-phenyl-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid diethylamide is reacted with chlorinating agent to give chloro derivative characterized in
that after completion of the reaction, reaction mass is treated with a base to get chloro intermediate of compound-2. It is reacted
with phthalimide salt in the presence of solvent to yield Milnacipran phthalimide intermediate of ( compound-3), It is further
converted into Milnacipran hydrochloride by conventional method with improved yield and quality,.
