(57) Abstract :<br />

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a carbon-coated negative electrode active material for use in a nonaqueous<br />

electrolyte secondary battery, wherein a negative electrode active raw material including at least one <strong>of</strong> silicon oxide<br />

powder <strong>and</strong> silicon powder is coated with carbon by a catalytic CVD method. The present invention also provides a negative<br />

electrode material for use in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery <strong>and</strong> a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using<br />

the negative electrode active material. As a result, there is provided a method for manufacturing a negative electrode active<br />

material for use in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which high battery capacity given by the silicon-based active<br />

material is maintained <strong>and</strong> a volume expansion <strong>and</strong> a break in the active material are suppressed.<br />
