(57) Abstract :<br />

The present invention provides a system <strong>and</strong> method for calculating Layer 2 load conditions in a wireless communication<br />

network. In one embodiment, Layer 2 load conditions are measured based on multi-media broadcast over a single frequency<br />

network (MBSFN) subframe, absolute blank subframe (ABS) <strong>and</strong> relay node (RN) configurations information. The present<br />

method provides L2 measurements based on RN as the physical resource blocks (PRB) usage measurements for different traffic<br />

classes are separated for RNs <strong>and</strong> UEs in the Donor eNodeB (DeNB).<br />
